Re: Black Mamba's vs. Black SRT-8's Questions-and Pic requests

there is 1 guy on here (jeff05wk) running beefy tires with no lift and aev pintler wheels...you could try finding out the specs of the pintlers and compare them to the mamba's then ask him what all he had to do to get them to fit.

O yea I knew there was someone on here that had an offroad setup with no spacers.

The pintlers btw are 17x8.5, the backspacing 5.3", +25mm offset

Murdered is an awsome combo on the SRT's... I say go for the 20's and maybe some SRT springs.

Just read through his build thread. Wow, 265/70's with just a pinch weld mod. Not bad. That's as big as I would want to go on stock suspension for sure. Actually, that's bigger than I was even thinking so I'm good with Mamba's. Looks like that might be the way I go.

So they should be very similar, looks like I wouldn't have a problem running a descent sized tire with no lift with those wheels

That's an idea also. Rock the beefy offroad tires on stock rims that have been plastidipped/painted and also be able to switch up to the reps whenever. As far as the urbanism of the 20's....really? It's 2011 if only "urban" cars had 20's than what do the other people drive? There are so many "sport" packages or "upgraded wheel" packages from factory are 18-20s on cars and trucks that people get.

That is a thought. I'll look up some stockers that are painted, but I really don't like the design of the stockers very much. Plus, this vehicle is just my sunny day weekend vehicle anyway, so I'll hardly be driving it one way, really no need for 2 setups on it, but we'll see.

As far as the urban thing, I'm just meaning that I live way out in the country where we have shitty roads, etc. Lot's of road kill, rocks, etc. to mess up a rim with hardly any tire on it. I'm not worried about the look as much as the safety of the wheel in this environment. It's not really a big deal, just something to consider. I've run 20's before and never had a problem, I'm more of less just weighing options and thoughts about which would better suit me.

Anybody ever seen one with SRT-8 wheels with larger, rough tires?? Just a thought. Anybody know how big of a 20" off road tire you could fit under one of these??

The only SRT wheels I've seen with AT tires had a lift.

I don't think you'd be able to go bigger than a 45 series with out the lift

Re: Black Mamba's vs. Black SRT-8's Questions-and Pic requests

I'm pretty sure I've made up my mind.

I'm going with the black Mamba MR-1s and a set of Dynapro RF10s in 255/70/17.

You guys think I can pull that size off without the pinch weld mod?

I just hope they don't stick out too far with that backspacing, may have to find some good looking mud guards (if there is such a thing as a good looking mud guard, lol)

Re: Black Mamba's vs. Black SRT-8's Questions-and Pic requests

Get the Mambas and a 265/65/17 or a 245/70/17 They will both fit w/o any mods and look great. I had 265/65/17s on my wk and loved them.

I think the 255/70/17 fits with little to no modding but i am not sure. Keep an eye on the upper ball joint bolt and the upper side wall. Make sure nothing is rubbing.
