Calibrating for Tire Size

Has anyone gone to the dealer to get calibrated for bigger tires?

I recently paid the dealer to do this. I got ripped off.

My stock size is 245/65R17 (circumference of 92.8) they said they got as close as possible to the Sahara wheels I have 255/70R18. Well they calibrated to 245/60R18.....which a circumference of 92.9.

Wow I paid for nothing.

I was wondering what other tires is the WK capable of being calibrated to.

Thanks.

Re: Calibrating for Tire Size

The manager said he is going to send it to another tech.

I will keep you posted.

BTW...calibrators are $168 at 4wheelsupply. Dealer charged me $110

Re: Calibrating for Tire Size

As far as I know, the dealer can only change tire size within the range of stock options for your vehicle. The largest being 245/65/70 or 245/60/18.

Re: Calibrating for Tire Size

3rd week.....Dealer finally admitted to not being able to do my tire size. They kept saying they couldn't do my width and the closest they could do was the SRT wheels and it was too wide.
I constantly would correct them, but it did not sink in.

Sad that a customer understands tires more than the dealer.

"There will be no charge Mr. Estrada" Then I asked about the original $110. They said that they got as close as they could. I had to explain that 29.53" in diameter is practically no different than 29.54". After a short argument and another useless explanation the manager accepted to refund my money.

He also said that I am the first person to ever ask of this and is curious about the Hypertech calibrator that I have on order.

Re: Calibrating for Tire Size

I've come to learn that most dealers salesmen and techs (not all of em) came straight from special ed! They just don't know sh!t!

Your programmer will take care of it!
