Daystar Lift w/ 265/70/17

Hey guys, I'm having the Daystar lift installed with new Bilstein shocks all around tomorrow. I have the Treadwright Guard Dog 265/70/17 being mounted. Will I have any problems with rubbing? I have the 1.5" Spidertrax also.

Re: Daystar Lift w/ 265/70/17

you'll more than likely have to fold your pinch weld. do a search there should be plenty of info on here to tell you for sure.

yep. just do the pinch weld to avoid the full lock rubbing and you're all good.

Re: Daystar Lift w/ 265/70/17

I know a lot of people who have a Budget lift and the pinch weld is uneccessary with those size tires. Maybe they just don't take their jeep to full lock all the time? Seems odd to want to do that if it only occurs at full lock. Not even suppose to cut to full if you can avoid it.

Re: Daystar Lift w/ 265/70/17

you're right in saying that it isnt completely necessary, but with the setup you will rub slightly against the wheel well liner when you are almost at full lock. I went ahead and did mine because if its rubbing the well liner a little on a wider turn on flat road, I dont wanna risk anything bad that could potentially occur if my wheel is not straight and the suspension is compressed offroad. I figured it's not a hard mod to do and better be safe than sorry. not saying something bad will happen if you don't do it, but I rather have peace of mind and full range of motion with the tires not touching anything.
Driving conditions I guess would be a factor to consider in doing the pinch weld or not. I just think you might as well do it, though.

Re: Daystar Lift w/ 265/70/17

I am just not keen on cutting into the frame at all. I know it is just making cuts and folds but ... structural weakness and all... No one has been able to convince me yet that this is worthwhile unless I want to run 32-33 inch tires and it can't be avoided.

How much clearance will you get with the 265/70 R17?

I am doing the same to mine, with Toyo's A/T 2 265/70 R17

You will most likely need to do the pinch weld mod still.

Re: Daystar Lift w/ 265/70/17

I run this same setup.. daystar 2", 1.5" spidertrax and 265/70/17 AT tires...

just do the pinch weld and avoid any worrying about rubbing at all in any situations.

Re: Daystar Lift w/ 265/70/17

Once the lift is installed try making a 3pt turn, a U-turn or parallel parking... it will will rub all day long, just like we all have said
