front brake rattle noise

Searched the form but found no answer.
Traveling gravel roads, there is a rattle from the front brakes. When applying brakes, rattle stops. This tells me the pads are loose and causing the rattle. Looked for the anti rattle clips and they seem to be in place. Did not strip the calipers, as on photo seems to be in place, or am looking at the wrong part that is not the anti rattle clip?

Re: front brake rattle noise

Hey skala im new to this forum site and still learning how everything works on here, but i was having the same problem on my 07 grand cherokee, the rattling was coming from the front tires over rough surfaces while coasting, but if you rode the brakes it would stop. The picture you have posted is indeed the anti rattle clip which ironically doesn't live up to its name obviously
What I did to fix this is i pulled off the caliper, took the clips out and used some channel lock plyers to sqeeze the clips inward so they held the pads in place tighter. Since then i havent heard them rattle since, my guess is over time they become loose and allow just enough wiggle room for the pads to rattle around. Its definitely a quick a painless fix so good luck if you choose this route, let me know how it goes if you decide to try it.
