Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

I see the 05's have two different sway bar sizes according to JustforJeeps. The 30mm and 33mm. I'm guessing since I have a 3.7, I probably have the 30mm, correct?

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

ok so I need some assurance that I am on the right path. I just had bilsteins put on all around and now I have a knocking noise on the front driver side. The guys that installed the bilsteins said the front sway bar bushing looked worn out and they think that was causing the knocking. Does this sound correct? the jeep has about 67000 miles and to my knowledge the bushings are still stock. Thanks for any help

Yup just had the same issue. Replaced my sway bar bushings and in all good now! Still my other bushings are a lil shot too so there is still a lil noise elsewhere. Bushings are easy to replace

On the wk, 30mm=non-SRT. 33mm=SRT. If you want to turn routine Maintenance into a performance upgrade, you can upgrade to the 33mm swaybar, brackets, and bushings for around $200 bucks.

Is this right? I will be doing mine this weekend. Brings up a question I had months ago.

I bought the new brackets (52090474AB) and 33mm bushings (52089465AF) based on the J4J description, but I don't have an SRT

Coop do you have the part numbers handy? (unless you have an SRT sway in which case, I am still unsure)

Also, do you have to slide the old bushings off and consequently disconnect the bar from the link? The new bushings have slits, but the old ones don't appear to.

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

Thanks for all the help guys. I have the new bushings ordered and should be here Monday. Fingers crossed that the new bushings will be the fix.

I don't have the part number cuz I got the reybestos brand ones. Stock bar but bwoody end links for 2" lift. The reybestos are stiffer than stock too. The new bushing are blue and have slits in them as well

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

Anybody have an extremely hard time getting the bolts off? Tried hand ratchet and air ratchet. No dice. Any suggestions?

Have you tried puting a long piece of pipe over your ratchet to make a breaker bar?
