Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

so like I said in the other post I have a knocking noise coming for the front drivers side and i think it is caused by bad sway bar bushings. My question is, I dont have the parts just yet to replace the bushings so is it going to hurt anything to drive the jeep still? Could driving the jeep with bad bushings cause more severe problems? the knocking noise just sounds like something is falling apart so its worries me.

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

Now is the time to upgrade with SRT bars since you are replacing bushings; The best bang for the buck suspension upgrade for the WK, without making it harsh riding. IT really makes a world of difference in stability, cornering, and reducing the bouncies

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

Someone previously in this thread said 30mm=non-SRT and 33mm=SRT. I have an 05 (non-SRT) with the 33mm bar. I thought the difference was that WK bars were hollow and WK SRT bars were solid?

I thought the different diameter was the difference but I may have been wrong. My front SRT sway was definitely heavier. I do remember it being hard to tell a size difference. Either way, I'd upgrade to the SRT sway if buying bushings. It made a big difference.

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

IIRC only a few early '05s had the 30 mm bar. my 05ltd has a 33mm bar stock.

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

The WK front 33 is hollow, and the SRT is solid. IT handles a lot better with the SRT's. They use the same brackets and bushings, unless you have an 05- early06, and you need to upgrade to the late 06 and up brackets with the groove along with bushings.

Re: Front sway bar bushing replacement..

Should grease be added when changing the bushings?
