Front Swaybar Bushing Tabs

So as we all know, the front sway bar has metal tabs on the outside of each bushing on either side. My question is, is it harmful to have those pushed snug to the bushing instead of having the (approximate) 1" gap between them and the bushing?

They're not welded, at least not on my sway bar. You can hit them with a small hammer and slide them along the bar.

Re: Front Swaybar Bushing Tabs

well IIRC my 2007 when i replaced it for the srt front BOTH had those tabs WELDED in place. I am rather sure as I also bought an ADDCO front that didnt have those parts and it did nothing but clunk. so then I went for the srt upgrade. and the srt8 bar I bought, which had same tabs, were also welded in place when I bought it new.

gonna go see if I have any pics.

their purpose is to stop the bar from sliding too far one way or the other/

Interesting. I moved them tight against the bushings in attempt to battle the dreaded swaybar clunk these cars are known for. I had put the TPR Napa bushings in there which i learned was a bad idea lol. I then put some Mopar ones in there and just left the tabs pushed up against the bushings. I just didn't know if that would jack up suspension geometry/functionality or anything.

They haven't moved since I hammered them up against the bushings. There is zero side to side play the way they're setup right now lol.
