How difficult is the upper to do? Will it incur more insane labor charges, or is it just 3 bolts and no magic?

Fairly easy yes. You could do it in your driveway kind of easy.

I'll put it off, then.

Going with internet purchased MOPAR control arms and 3rd party install. They want $375 at the Goodyear place to do the job, INCLUDING alignment. I don't think I could rent all the tools to do it myself for less than $100, plus the time, location, etc. is more than worth the other $200 to me.

4 Wheel Parts isn't that bad... more accurately, they seem to vary widely by location, where I got real good service from one, and walked out of the other. They may not be in your area, but in any area where you have jeepers you tend to have off road specialty shops. Look for a place that does lifts and such.

Can't anyone replace two lower control arms, or is there some magic in it so to speak? Found a local Goodyear shop that quoted $375 including alignment for labor. 4 hour job.

Are they replacing just the bushings or the entire lower control arm?

Entire control arms. I am spending the money to go MOPAR. Why? Because I think something happened. Bad run of bushings. Etc. Every other MOPAR bushing on the vehicle is fine, even those closer to the road than the LCA bushings. I just think it was a bad run, and i'm not going to dick around with having this done again because I went with a cheaper alternative, or deal with a poor alignment due to the arm being machined wrong a few tenths, or have other issues because hte aftermarket bushings are a different durometer hardness, etc. etc.

I mean if you they seem trustworthy and if they seem to know what their doing go for it. Ask them a couple questions and see if they know what they are talking about. Its not a very easy job but its not extremely difficult either. Can I ask why you are swapping out the entire control arm as opposed to just the bushings? You can purchase good quality mopar bushings. If the arm is structurally good and not bent there really isn't a reason to replace it. Parts and labor will be alot cheaper if you replace just the bushings.

I have not found any mopar bushings. Link? Also, labor will be more. Add pushing the bushing out and new one in to the process basically, no?

Its not hard to push out the bushings much easier than removing all the suspension components to remove the control arm.Ask for these part numbers from the dealer:

52089988AC - Forward bushing
52089989AA - Rearward bushing
52089991AB - strut fork (may not be needed)
