Re: How do you keep your wheels safe?

this thread is awsome. I think when I get off work I am going to pep boys and ask if they carry wheel covers that lock onto the wheel to protect them from being stolen.

To the OP, locking lugs need a specific socket that is used to take off that lug. People refer to them as keys but they are not a key like you would use to open a door. The reason people are being "WTF" about this is that it take less time to steal a car then to actually sit in the street and jack up each wheel to steal them; well unless the economy has hit a NASCAR pit crew really bad and they need some spare cash.

Either way locking lugs are the only comfort you can have and in my opinion they are a waste of money because you need to keep the key in your car (IF you have to change a tire), so If I were going to steal your rims and they had a lug lock I would just bust your window and check the glove box for the key.

Thats why you strip it and leave it. LOL

I just never understood how someone has time to steal rims, mind you back in the day I had a bonnieville stolen and stripped 3 times in one year. Worst part was they kept finding it and giving it back to me, and by stripped I mean all audio gone, rims gone and one time "radiator and battery" gone. Never enough to total the car.

Re: How do you keep your wheels safe?

I have always been concerned with this - that is why every time I leave my Jeep I take the wheels off and throw them in the hatch area and lock the doors. That way they are safe!!
