Brilliant business plan. Aftermarket wheels are extremely popular and always will be, and half the people who want them can't afford to buy them outright, or don't have good enough credit to buy them that way.

Rent to own = win... for some.

Not me though, AEV Pintlers rock!

They are locking lugs - they LOCK. They have a unique "thread" on them.

Negitory ghost rider... they are not "locking" they are what equate to "tuner" lugs and everyone and their brother has or can get that "key" If you buy or hell, steal a set of gorilla lugs you get that same key. There may be a couple size variations but they are all the same pattern and the pattern is what decides if it is "locking" or not.

Gorilla does offer legit "locks" that are unique and you must save a code that comes in the kit incase you need to order another one. Mopars are also legit locks.

All that said, if people want your wheels, you could weld them on on and they would still get them.

True dat. They dont actually lock, but are considered the marketable "locking" lug. I really just got them for blackness and to at least mitigate theft, which (you're correct) is simply a unique outside lug thread, which other ppl can get. If you walk around with this lug key - go ahead, make my day

and to take this comment a bit further, if your going to walk around with a socket and ratchet to pull regular lugs off why is carrying around a lightweight socket for these any different

The horse is dead, and I continue to beat it, we all know if people want them they will get them. The worst part is that hit me as I worked on a vehicle with legit locking lugs this evening, more often than not the key is IN THE CAR lol or how would you change a flat right... If they want them you may as well consider them gone or hope you walk in on them and can put enough of a hurting on them that you will have them moving out of state to stay away from you.

When I was in college we had 8 guys livin' in a house with a pitbull a rottweiller and a sawed off shotgun. Not only did one truck lose a radio and it's wheels, one night the house actually got broken into while we were all passed out in bed (dogs locked in the rooms with us) And our sawed off was stolen(shells were locked away at least). The guy must have looked like a bad ass santa rollin' down the streets of New Haven on my buddies mountain bike w/ a big bag of booty and a double barrel.

Point is. If they want them, they're gonna get em'. And more then likely they're gonna take em' where you live. As already posted, most "locks" aren't really that unique. No, a guy walkin' down the street won't have the key to you're lugs in his pocket. But the guy who walks past you're ride once or twice a week will come prepared. So how much do you trust you're neighbors?

Re: How do you keep your wheels safe?

How about keeping your spare wheel safe???

Mine just got jacked the other day... fml

Cost me $100 to replace it with a ugly used tire (got the same rim tho)... and now i can"t mount it back under the car because they cut the cord
