im still contemplating doing this, ive got one set of Eibach 1" spacers and have fitted both front and back...
- Gripping threads is not a problem
- No rubbing WITH spacers front or back (no need for pinch weld mod)
- Trimmed the bolt
My whole issue is with the integrity of the 17" wheel lugs based on size. They do hold the wheel on but the overall circumference is smaller than those that come with the 18's (wow real scientific). Which leads me to believe they will fail either by cracking or pulling through. Add to that my concerns with spacers. In addition the 18's are heavier than the 17's which also brings up questions regarding bolt integrity.
The bolts on the spacers need to be replaced with 18" wheel bolts vs replacing the bolts on the 17" wheels in order to accomodate the original 18" lugs - imho - OR find lugs that have the same outer circumference as the original 18" lugs
at this point in time im looking at several other options...just cant risk it
