Re: Need advice on a lift newbie
the rock krawler lift is still a 2" BB(budget boost) suspension lift. they just call it 3.5" for some reason... its not too popular, but some like it. i run a daystar 2" lift.. its a poly spacer BB lift. i wouldve preferred the metal spacers of the RC lift but its all my shop could get in at the time and i was pressed for time.. and didnt have cash for an OME lift. I still like it though... same prices basically for all 3 of those.
If you want a 2" BB lift, most people run the rough country or RC lift and bilsteins all around... the all metal spacers of the RC lift tend to get good reviews in durability and will lift you 2"..also the bilsteins will boost you an extra 3/8" and improve your ride quality.. more grounded rather than a floaty feel..this will most likely run you around $500 without install and be your best bet if you wanna go with a 2" lift.
if you want to spend a little more money and get the best bang for your buck though, get the OME lift. costs $700 without install and it will lift you 3". best combo for on and off road capability.. you get your lift from changing out stock springs with the OME longer more heavy duty springs along with longer shocks that are of similar quality to the bilsteins rather than getting the lift from either metal or polyurethane spacers that the BBs use..
going the first route though is probably the best bet for you if you dont wheel too much though and also will save you that 200 bucks to put towards some wheel spacers and bigger tires.... (after the lift you'll want em as stock tires will look too small)..one step at a time though..
RC lift and bilsteins I recommend for a 2.35" lift and improved ride quality. $500 in parts.
OME lift for a 3" lift and improved ride quality. $700 in parts.
good luck with the lift and search and look around the forum.. theres tons of us running a variety of setups
