Hi Lucas, sorry to jump in on this thread again (continuation from my lift/wheels thread), but most 265/70/17 manufacturers are stating rim width range from 7" to 8.5", with the 'measured width' to be 8". The Misfits you mentioned I believe are 17X9, and hence would be outside of the 'common' 265/70/17 tire size?
The wheeling I would mainly be doing will be sand dunes, and hence have to drop the psi considerably for traction, the risk with being on the upper limit of rim width for any given tire would result in the tire coming off. Therefore, ideally the 265/70/17 should be mounted on a 17x8 rim (and most after maket rims tend to be 17x9). Any advice?
