New shock/strut installation question

Hey there,

I just ordered from rockauto some shocks/struts/strut mounts, etc, would like to know if it matters at all where I get them installed, the dealership asked me for around 400$, while the local canadian tire asked me for 200$...

Does it matter where I bring it?

Also, does the Jeep need a wheel alignement after this?

Thanks.

Re: New shock/strut installation question

You should not need an alignment, honestly, if at all possible, tackle the rear shocks yourself and save yourself some money, you dont even need to lift the vehicle off the ground. 2 bolts and they come right out. very very easy, took me half an hour tops to change my over. Save yourself the $100 they are charging you for that.

Re: New shock/strut installation question

Hi there, thx for the input, do you think I'll need to pay more to get 2 front strut mounts and 4 rear upper-lower coil spring insulators installed at the same time?

Am I doing right by buying 4 rear coil spring insulators to change at the same time?

Re: New shock/strut installation question

If your front suspension is being adjusted I would definitely get an alignment. The rear is not a problem. Most shops in my area will do all 4 wheels for around $320. If you do the rears yourself you are probably looking at 200 or so. It does not much matter where you get the struts done as long as they are reputable business. Tire shops do that kind of work all day long, so it should not be an issue.
