Smile New Tire Time Nitto 420s

Well, it is time for new tires my piece of Sh@#t General Grabber HP have started to suck and get noisy I got 20k out of them. I just ordered a set of Nitto 420s 255/45/20. I getting them from Discount Tire Direct they are having a online sale with $50 dollars off and 30 dollar visa card with free shipping and no tax. Post of them installed soon.

Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

Can I ask why you went with 255 instead of 275? The wider tires look amazing on jeeps and living down south you don't have to worry about snow.

Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

Well because Nitto does not sell 275 45 20 in the the 420s. I have 275 45 20 they stick out on the sides and with the 255 45 20 my speed dometer will be right on the money. These tires are not directional so I rotate them at all 4 corners.

Gotcha. Was just curious about the size. Nice looking WK by the way.

Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

Let me know how you like the Nitto 420's. I'll be looking for some 20's for my Jeep next spring, but would prefer a wider tire as well. I have the Nitto 555's on my '67 and love them, but they are strictly a summer tire.

Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

Well I got my Nitto 420s installed today, Have not driven much on them will give better test later. But a few things going from the 275 to 255 size the tires look small. But the thing I do not like is there is not much of a wheel guard to protect the wheels from curbs, the wheels look to stick out pass the tires edge, I hope that is normal with these tires or did discount tire mount them wrong and the wheel will come off the tire. So guys with Nitto with srt reps let me know. Here are a few pics.

Later
Chris

Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

The new tires look good, and they are mounted fine.

It's normal to not have as much sidewall bulge when you go with a narrower tire.

Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

I that what discount told me and they have no wheel guard. The only problem I am having is getting them balanced right, I got them to get the vibration out but I got a little shake in the steering wheel. I may get alignment first to see if it off. But I do like the look of them.

Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

You have 20x9s all around, correct?

They are mounted correct. If you're getting a shimmy take them back to Discount. They will replace them if they are funky.

Great looking Jeep!

Unhappy Re: New Tire Time Nitto 420s

Talked with Discount tire going back for rebalancing saturday, Why am having all these problems with balancing tires. I thought putting new tires on would fix my problem.Am I the only person having tire balancing problem? I just want a smooth ride. The guy I talked to said maybe putting different tires on, But I think the nitto 420 are the best for my jeep. They have put alot of weights on the wheels. How much weight should these SRT8 Reps have on them. I asked about road force and he was like that machine is the same as the other hunter machines they use and the road force would just help a little but not for long time.
