New tires

Im looking to buy new tires for my 05 wk. the previous owner had 265s on it and the factory calls for 245s. Does anyone know if there is any special reason the previous owner had that width put on.

Re: New tires

They wear better and are a wider tire, so it'll handle a little better than stock too. Did the use a slightly lower aspect ratio tire so the diameters stayed about the same?

Re: New tires

265 are taller and fills the wheel wells more. Tires are also gears, so it will accellerate slower when the diamater is larger than stock. Highway mpg will improve though it will be worse in snow, as narrow tires provide best traction.
