Lookin good. Alot of people actually cut that off (leaving the nut obviously), they just cut what hangs below the nut.

Re: new tires! finally!

Wow, that looks great. Any reason for choosing 265/65 over 255/70? I've been following the other thread where 255/70 is the tire of choice for stock height. Besides that bolt being very close, do you have any rubbing issues on or off road?

I can't wait to get some new rubber for the Jeep!

Whatever the clearance is at the bolt will stay that way. My tires are a little taller (265/70) so I cut half of the non-threaded portion off the bolt. gives you another .25 - .3" of clearance and you can still get a wrench on if you need to. So if it makes you feel better just grind a little off.

Re: new tires! finally!

You can get the nut off even after you cut the bolt. My mechanic can.

Judging by your picture, the tires will NEVER hit the bolt.......unless you air down the tires for offroad or run really low on air for some reason.

Re: new tires! finally!

Thanks for the imput guys! I chose 265 65 over 255 70's because the nittos were in stock and really cheap. My step dad had connections at American Tire Distrubutors. Also the 265 has GREAT stability, much much better thank my 235's haha. I might just grind a little of that off for peace of mind. How did yall do it?

EDIT* I had rubbing in reverse turning the wheels to the left once but it was at hard full lock. No rubbing on bumps either!

Re: new tires! finally!

I rub at full lock too. But.....I never turn the wheel at full lock because I don't like the strain on the power steering pump. Not good.

The shop had air tools. He used an air cutting tool.

Re: new tires! finally!

it will come out no problem as the tapered portion will be holding solid, IF you ran into a problem it would be installing which absolute worst case senario you can replace it to go back together, but a couple quick zips from an impact wrench and it will reseat the taper and tighten up.

Re: new tires! finally!

Yep. And most don't have to worry about reinstallation due to replacing them with JBA's UCA's.
