Pinch Weld Question

Well, ive been looking at alot of build threads where people did the pinch weld. noticed that everyone strattles the weld spots and just knocks the weld over. well i let my stepdad grind my pinch weld for me. but he went straight through the welds and took the metal from the pinch weld as far back as possible without knocking it over. so there is no more weld spots now.

my question is will it eventually start to mess up later on down the road? like since i cut the welds off will it start to split? and is there any way to fix it?

or would i be better off trading it in for another WK and re-do the pinch weld right and let it be someone else's problem? (not meaning to be a D**K)

please no negativity. thanks

Re: Pinch Weld Question

Bending factory welds is bad enough, but done correctly is OK.

I can't imagine removing them completely is safe.

Re: Pinch Weld Question

Take it to a welding shop and see if they can weld what is left together.

Re: Pinch Weld Question

ditto.. sliced some slits in it.. hammered back and sprayed with rustoleum coating.. i cut my fender well instead of heating and forming.. it was just easier at the time.. not as neat, but serves the purpose and its the wheel well... that doesnt need to be pristine in my book. haha

Re: Pinch Weld Question

I cut the bulges out was going to go back & do a nice looking epoxy patch job. I temporarily put some black Gorilla Tape to cover the TPMS sensors... that was over a year ago. If it ain't broke, dont't fix it!

Do u think I would have to do the same pinch weld as u did if I ran the same size tire but on a 3.5 inch lift
