Raybestos R-300 slotted rotors and pads

70K miles and time to change the rotors and pads on my 2005 GC again. They were done last at around 35K and direct factory rotors and pads were used. I would like something that bites a little more, i got this jeep new and it always seemed like there ws not enouigh brake for the vehicle. I am looking at the Raybestos R-300 "advanced technology performance" slotted rotors and Raybestos "advanced grade" ceramic pads.

I am hoping these pads will last at least another 35K miles or more and the rotors will not warp or rust like the others have. Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on this matter. Thanks.

Raybestos is good quality stuff, so let us know how they compare to the OEM.

Re: Raybestos R-300 slotted rotors and pads

I am still hesitant on ordering the Raybestos brake package until I get some more feedback. So many brands all claiming to be the best. When i do finally upgrade the brakes i will be sure to post my results.

Re: Raybestos R-300 slotted rotors and pads

Doesnt anyone have any thoughts on the Raybestos R-300 rotors?

I just ordered my pads from Advance Auto Parts online. I could not refuse the deal. Front & rear Wagner ThermoQuiet ceramics QC1080 & QC1087 , and a Purolator cabin air filter C15599 for under $90 with the promo code VISA.

Still waiting for Rockauto to get the Raybestos R-300 rotors back in stock then i might just go for it!

Re: Raybestos R-300 slotted rotors and pads

The "sport stop" or Stop Tech rotors (on RockAuto) from past experience are very high quality and last quite a while. I had them on my Audi S4 for atleast 30k with no problems at all (very minimal rust and hardly no warping). Stoptech is a very big name on the Euro scene for a reason. Just food for thought.

Stillen Cross Drilled Rotors and Metal Matrix Pads.

Ceramics are good but might decrease the lift of the rotors.....or am I wrong???

Re: Raybestos R-300 slotted rotors and pads

Thanks for all the input on this matter. I have been researching for a while now and just came across this forum about a week ago felt it would be a good idea to get some feedback from GC owners.

I have the Wagner ceramics ordered and just waiting on the Raybestos rotors to come back in stock. Ceramics get a lot of mixed reviews especially with GC owners but if the whole package i want gets me 25K miles, i would take that over rusty ugly rotors, break squeal and that spongy feeling after a while.

Re: Raybestos R-300 slotted rotors and pads

It's funny how so many give mixed reviews of ceramics and swear they chew up rotors, then praise the Wagner Thermoquiets as a godsend. They are ceramic, am I missing something?

^It depends on the makeup of the pad, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the thermo quiets are 100% ceramic. But its a fact that the ceramics will eat rotors, its part of using them.

Re: Raybestos R-300 slotted rotors and pads

Should I buy R1 cross drilled rotors?

I so sick of warping rotors.
