Rear shocks torque specs???

Just put a set of Bilsteins on my 05 WK and I am getting a rattle front the rear passengers shock and am thinking it needs to be a little tighter. Does anyone have the torque specs for it?

Re: Rear shocks torque specs???

Can you confirm that ft lbs specs for stablizer link nut to stabilizer bar? My Haynes manual shows 90 ft lbs, but I can't seem to get it that tight. 65 ft lbs makes more sense...

I kept breaking torx bits trying to get to 90. Finally gave up. What is your source for this info?

65 ft. lbs. is correct. See attached page from FSM.

Re: Rear shocks torque specs???

What is "FSM"? Sorry, acronyms just kill me.

I was using a scanned page (supposed to be a shop manual I believe) found in the "sticky" thread for suspension. All the numbers match yours except for the link nut. Furthermore, my haynes manual had the same specs as this one. But when I did the install, everytime I got close to 70 lbs (I was trying to go up incrementally because it was so stubborn) I'd snap my torx T-40 in half!!! I assumed I need better tools and order new torx bits (haven't arrived yet). But if the correct torque is 65 lbs, I'm already there. This is a serious misprint if this is true because it is reappearing in other manuals.

Thanks for the post, this will benefit many members who are DIYer's!

BTW, can you check out my copy of the front suspension specs? Let us know if there are any other conflicts.

Factory Service Manual, official manual from Jeep. I also checked other WK model year FSM's, all show 65 ft. lbs.

Re: Rear shocks torque specs???

This is my source for the bad specs. It was a post on the sticky suspension thread, back in march 2010. I wonder if the online service manual was FSM approved? My Haynes manual also had those specs...? Thanks for confirming that. I assume your FSM is an online manual? The format does not look like an old book scan.

Once again, thanks!

Re: Rear shocks torque specs???

There are constant changes/corrections/additions to the online manuals, so that is always the best reference when available. Paper/disc manuals can get outdated quickly. BTW, I updated the PDF attachment in post # 4 to include both front and rear suspension torque numbers.
