Roadforce Balance is for Real!

After getting bigger tires on my OEM Moduflex chrome clad wheels from the local Discount Tire, they could never get the tires balanced correctly, even after three attempts. I searched and found many posts about how a Roadforce balance is the only way to get the proper balance with the chrome clads. When I brought this up with Discount Tire, they said I didn't know what I was talking about. Kinda peeved me off. They can keep their lifetime balances and rotations, because they can't even get it right. Anyways, found another local tire shop with a Hunter Roadforce balancer for $20/tire. They had to order the larger cone adapter, but needed it for other makes of chrome clad wheels that they have been coming across. After the balance, they discovered that Discount Tire had put anywhere from 3.00 to 3.25 in surplus weight all around. They got it dead on, and I have no more high speed wobbles. Shoulda got my tires from these guys in the first place.

Re: Roadforce Balance is for Real!

I plan on getting my tires roadforce balanced also. I don't trust regular balance machines.

Re: Roadforce Balance is for Real!

Yeah, roadforce is good stuff, but with the chrome clad wheels they should be using the "fingers" not a cone. The cone can crack the plastic around the center hole.

Re: Roadforce Balance is for Real!

yes on the fingers, local tire store did crack my chrome covers with the cone. The manager was very stand up about it and ordered me a new wheel, installed and road force balanced the new wheel as well.

After my ride got so smooth we did it in the wife's 4runner and it smoothed out the ride there too.

$20 per tire is a nice price.
