Re: Stock Replacement Tires - BFG All Terrains?

I've just been looking at tires too.
I do not off road, i just want some good tires that will handle any weather and be good on the highway. I have some GoodYear wrangler silent armour's on my xj and they've been good so far, but i dont want to spend that much this time around.
I'm thinking either general altimax arctic's or bridgestone blizzaks. They both have similar good reviews on tirerack. Anybody have any experience with them?

Re: Stock Replacement Tires - BFG All Terrains?

guys I feel like a complete idiot. Had been looking for the Firestone Destination ATs on tirerack but was informed by the tirerack website that the only size that was available and considered OEM was 235/65/17. I ended up going with the same size but purchased from TownFairTire since they are local but I bought in the 235 size. This was a couple of weeks ago.

I just found out tonight that the destinations are available in the 245 size. Town Fair Tire offers a 30 day test drive with the purchase of tires so I can bring them back if I want to. The 24s are an extra 5 dollars per tire. Should I stick with the 235s or should I bring them back and get the 245s?

U should be able to go 255 no problem, I feel like my 255's are way to narrow so I wouldn't be able to live with something that tiny, but dude, to avoid this, all you had to do was look at the tires on your jeep to see the size, not ask tire rack? Lol just saying.

I knew that I was running 245s, but I thought based on tirerack that the destination ATs werent available in 245s and that 235s were an acceptable alternative. When I went to Town Fair Tire, the guy was like you know you got 235s right? I said yeah becuase from what I understand they don't make the destinations in 245s.. He didn't say otherwise.

Do you think the ride quality would be better with the 245s? I'm finding with the 235s it feels a little more stiff and bumpy.

Idk about that, but I like the look of a wider tire personally.

Re: Stock Replacement Tires - BFG All Terrains?

brought it back to the tire shop today. They swapped out the 235s with a new set of 245s no questions asked. Much happier with the new tires - it drives better and looks better
