Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Looking to put a 2" lift on my '05 WK and wondering which kits are the best. I really just am looking for a smaller project that will make the truck look sweet. Have to get new tires now anyway so I was thinking of going bigger than the factory size (especially if I do the lift).

A couple of questions:

Can I do it myself (I have plenty of tools)?

What is max tire size I can put on factory 17" rims after 2" lift?

Are there any other suspension mods that should be done in conjunction with a 2" lift?

Any safety issues you can think of?

Anything else you or anyone can think of regarding the 2" lift would be helpful!

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Scott, thank you for your dedication to this thread. +rep for you on how helpful you've been.

After reading through the thread, I've noticed there are lots of different combinations that can be used. I don't know what the best is for my preferences, so I was hoping you guys could help me out.

I'm looking to upgrade the suspension on my vehicle and add a new set of tires. I didn't want to purchase the tires until I figured out the suspension... that way if the vehicle goes up or down, I can adjust tire size accordingly. I have an 06 Overland with the 5.7 and 4x4. I'm looking for a luxurious ride + great onroad handling ability. I'd also prefer to keep the ride height of the vehicle the same, but I'm willing to accept minimal change. My budget is unlimited. Can you guys help me out with a setup that'll meet my wants? Thanks in advance.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

The best lift is going to be OME. Get the full MD or HD spring/shock lift from them.

You can self-install. You'll need an alignment after.

Don't know about tire size, but there are other resources with more info for the lifted guys.

SRT Bilsteins/HD Bilsteins, SRT Springs, SRT front/rear sways, Bwoody sway links. Depending on which shock/strut combo you decide on...the drop will be minimal. The SRT Bilsteins/SRT springs will get you about an inch...but if you go for the HD Bilsteins...you can subtract 3/8" from that drop. Any of this combo will take the bounciness and bad road manners away. You could also kep the stock springs for almost no drop....but the rides not gonna be that great. Eibach or H&R springs will also drop you a tad(1.25-1.5) and improve the ride considerably.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Thanks for the input guys. I spent some time looking at the options on the OME site and they suggest installing the lift first, then going to the tire people to have them fit a tire. Looks like 265/70-R17 tires are a popular choice after going with the 2" lift.

Thanks,

Pete
