Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

I'm about three weeks out from a tax return that will help me get my long awaited OME 2" lift. I need some perspective on MD vs HD however... I don't plan on adding winches or any heavy stuff on the vehicle, but the two shops I've talked to here in Denver have different takes on it.

One recommended MD because of my statement that I wanted 1) to keep the vehicle as stock looking and feeling without getting over the top and 2) it is still my primary vehicle and i need to drive in the city 85% of it's life with 15% of it's usage during the warmer months being adventuring on some steeper and rocky moderate terrains. I also get up skiing all winter - provided that there's decent powder. The other shop said "we just do HD and don't mess with MD - if you're going to do it, there's only one way to do it". This shop is more about just plain off-roading die hards it seems. They seem to service more Wranglers and stuff which means they know their stuff, but I'm probably not their typical customer for that reason i suppose.

I guess I'd just like to hear from someone who may know the difference first hand. With an 05 WK Hemi does it make a difference? Is the HD too stiff for city driving? Knowing that I did stuff like Loch Lomond, Lead King Basin, (most of) Mosquito Pass (there was impassable snow pack on the Breck side from Leadville) and 1/2 of Alpine Loop stock last summer (and want to do more of that kind of trip) I just want to make sure I spend my money properly.

HERE is an image where someone from jeepforum dot com showed the before, inbetween and after that convinced me that my plans were going to be sick THIS is the forum I found it in...

From there, i just have to figure if the right direction is the pinch weld for 265/70/17 on stock rims and whether or not I should level the front.

I'm the kid in the candy store overwhelmed by the colors and scents at this moment...

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

What could I expect to pay for labor to have a shop install all 4 hd bilsteins?

I've been quoted around $280+

That is what i plan to get. I found them for $340 out the door at 4 Wheel Parts

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Anyone have any luck or experiences with shock warehouse? I noticed they are a vendor for a diesel forum but I want to get a better idea before I order from them. They are about $20 cheaper and free shipping, out the door is about $320

About the shockwarehouse.com, I ended up ordering from them and they have given us a discount code to enter for 5% off their all ready low prices. It's posted in the member group buys forum.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

I just installed the WK Eibach springs and now one of my struts are leaking. So i guess now i need to get new struts. I really dont want to lose any of the drop that i have so i dont want to do the WK Bilsteins. My question is if i do the SRT Bilsteins will i stay at the same drop or will i still lose around 3/8" and will they work with the WK Eibach's?

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

I just installed my bilsteins and I love them!!

Way better ride, of course the old ones were shot, and they gave it a little lift( although that wasn't what i was going for, nothing dramatic)

Handling has improved also!
