Have anyone compared the 2 side by side? I was looking up the part numbers and there are 2 different numbers. Both say they are 33mm, but one says "with normal duty suspension" (SDA) and the other says "with high perform suspension" (SDX).

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Thought I read some where that the SRT one, and some Euro models, was solid and the others hollow which would account for the above comment even though the same diameter.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Whew! 51 pages is a lot of information took me a whole week to read, along with other related threads. I am not looking to lower my 08 5.7L GC right now, but I do want to reduce the sway and bouncyness. So I did some reading on the topic and this is what I got from it:

Sway bars are a lateral spring that transfers energy to the other side of the car, pushing that sides springs/shocks down to level the car and reduce sway. Sway bar links offer some flexibility to the sway bar for the potholes and bumps of the world, so that the ride isn't as harsh. Springs support the weight of the vehicle (the sprung weight, excluding axles and wheels), and their softness/stiffness balances comfort vs. payload. (I still find springs to be the most mysterious part of the equation). And struts/shocks dampen the rebound of the springs to reduce oscillations or bouncyness. So, I figure the stock setup is a corporate compromise of a comfortable ride in the front and the tail is raked up in the rear to support the weight of towing. Assuming I understand all this correctly...

Upgrading my stock shocks/struts to the HD bilsteins is obviously my first step to address general bouncyness. But sway has to be treated too. Since I have a tight budget (I am aware that used parts are available, but lets assume I want to buy new parts for now) what is my best first investment?

1) Front SRT8 swaybar & bushings?
2) Rear SRT8 swaybar, brackets and bushings?
or 3) bwoody non-srt sway links?

Eventually I plan to do all three, but where should I start since I'll have to spread this out over a year or so.

And as a related topic, wheels are unsprung weight. Anyone know the weight of the 18" chrome clad Summit wheels? I've search and can't find any info, but I know the stock tires weight 33 lbs.

And yes this is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while now and really like the rides and posts I see here.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Right now allshocks.com seems to have the best price. About $322 shipped. More if they add tax? I'm mostly looking for the best bang for the buck, but I'm also going to install one set parts at a time to see how each piece affects the handling until I"m satisfied.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

so shockwarehouse.com price matches online prices and then takes off another 5% on top of that? Really?! That's $289 shipped! I'll look into that for sure. When does the promo code expire? If you know.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Tight! Let me know what our ride height is at. I personally like my raised look(no raised but it's 3/4" higher than stock, and with 100k it was sagging pretty bad)

Let me know how it handles!
