Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

sure will,

here is another thing that bothers me and maybe you guys can direct me in some way about this.

Does it matter if the SRT8 Jeep is heavier in the front than the regular WK's? if it does is it better to put on the WK Bilsteins instead of the SRT Bilsteins????

I know for a fact this was not covered in this thread thats why the question... please dont stone me to death! jaja

the struts are valved different. the srt's are firmer- they restrict oil flow more, so you get better control and feel of the vehicle. the srt struts are also shorter-they can compress more before bottoming out- needed when getting low.

I dont think the srt's are heavier in the front, there's not that much difference. when you guys are comparing, you have to try to NOT look at the front bumper even the mopar front lip is way higher off the ground than the srt bumper.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

so the SRT Bilstein internals are better than the WK Bilsteins? I know for sure they look exactly the same since I bought the SRT's and put them side to side to the WK's and they were identical, not a single difference just the part numbers so what is the total drop from the WK springs to the Bwoodys? I guess I will find out soon enough pics in the works!

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Interesting. Were they the exact same length and the height of the actual coil mount the same too? Always though that both or either would be 3/8" different?

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

there has to be a difference.. granted I dont own a street jeep, but more than double the $ for the same exact thing definitely doesnt make sense. and the fact that so many people have vouched for the fact that the WK bilsteins raise you 3/8" would leave me to believe you have measurements off somehow. Like mentioned, I'm sure the valving is different I would assume they should still look a little different without any compression.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Got my Bilsteins in this week and have had the Bwoody springs for a little while, They'll be going on next week. but I seem to have lost the sheet that came with the springs with the info about modifying the bump stops. does anyone know how much to take off the front and rear bump stops?

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

I have a 2007 GC Limited. I just bought a set of SRT8 take-off springs. Do I need to modify the front or rear bump stops when installing the SRT8 springs & HD Bilsteins? If so, how much do I shorten them? I'm worried with the shorter springs, the factory non-SRT bumpstops may be too long and bottom out/limit suspension travel too much.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Another suspension question. If I lower my WK with SRT8 springs and add Addco sways, do I need the BWoody WK end links or the SRT8 end links? The SRT8 links look shorter, so my assumption is these would be needed if you lower your Jeep.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

^ NO, the SRT end links are shorter because they are used with different mounting brackets. IIRC they cost like$300 for the kit. it's not just because the suspension is lowered. Stock srt's are only like 1 to 1-1/2" lower anyway.

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Hey guys. Quick question, I've looked around and read a lot about lowering the wk and havent seen this pop up yet. And this might be a dumb question but.
If you lower your jeep 1 or 1.5 how does that affect your axles ground clearance? I understand the body would lower but how does that work in relation to the axles?

Re: The complete (05-10) WK Grand Cherokee suspension thread

Rear axle clearance is unchanged but on the front the body mounted diff centre will be closer to the ground.
