This is needed...so here I go. Please anyone make any additions I forget and I'll add them to the list

Performance shocks and struts

Bilsteins
--There are two types of Bilsteins that fit the WK platform

1. WK HD Bilsteins(aftermarket)-strut part #Manufacturer Part #: F4-BE5-D721-H0
shock-Manufacturer Part #: F4-BE5-D722-H0 these are Bilsteins aftermarket replacement shock and strut for the Wk. They fit all WK models and are under $300 for all 4. These IMO are an awesome addition to any WK. Handling is crisp, less "floaty" feel and less bounce when going over bumps etc. Excellent replacement for the stocks struts/shocks! FYI-these will raise your Jeep WK 3/8th's of an inch all around---

2. Jeep SRT Bilsteins(oem)-These are the OEM shocks/struts from the awesome Jeep SRT8. They are tuned specifically for the WK platform SRT8. The SRT Bilsteins can only be purchased from an authorized Mopar/Jeep dealer or your local Jeep dealer. These are by far the best shocks and struts for the WK period. These will totally transform a stock WK. I do highly recommend you do not use these with your stock WK springs. Go aftermarket or get the oem Jeep SRT springs. These are a direct bolt on for any WK. Expect to pay upwards of $700 for all four

SPRINGS

There are 7 spring sets available to all US WK's-stock OEM Jeep SRT,WK Eibachs, SRT Jeep Eibachs, H&R ,Bwoody and Roadmagnets's 1 and 2's(edit-I just received info that groundforce makes springs for the WK. As soon as I find someone that has them..I will get their review)

OEM Jeep SRT springs The oem Jeep SRT springs are a direct fit for a stock WK suspension. No modifcations or extra parts are needed. The approx. drop will depend on what struts and shocks you have. But on stock shocks/struts...look for a 1.25-1.5" drop on average. You can subtract approx. 3/8" with the WK Bilsteins. The SRT springs are an excellent upgrade for someone looking for a nice drop and wexcellent handling. I suggest the WK Bilsteins to go along with the SRT springs...but they are not needed. OEM SRT springs can be found used from SRT owners who have dropped their SRT's on Bwoodys or SRT Eibachs. SRT springs can also be purchased at any Jeep/Mopar parts dealer.

WK Eibachs-(Manufacturer Part #: 2839.540)
Eibachs give a stock WK on stocks shocks and struts a 1.5" drop in the front and a 1.70 drop in the rear. If you add the WK Bilsteins...you can expect to see 3/8" less than that.
The Eibachs will totally transform your WK...even on stock shocks and struts. The handling is crisp and some of the bouncyness and body roll are gone.
Expect to pay upwards of $250 for Eibachs

Eibach alignment kit-Manufacturer Part #: 5.23410K-about $150 I never used this and my WK aligns perfect. But with this kit you can adjust front camber +/- 1.50

SRT8 Jeep Eibachs(Manufacturer Part #: 2892.540) The SRT Jeep Eibachs look to be a total fail for the SRT8 Jeep. Many SRT8 Jeep owners have dumped the SRT Eibachs because they are bouncy and bottom out very easy. The SRT Eibachs will work on the WK non SRT as well. But I would assume the same problems on the WK non-SRT. UPDATE-there is a fix that Eibach now includes with all NEW SRT Eibachs. You can also fix them with a set of Energy suspension bumpstops trimmed and installed.

H&R's
Expect the same results as the WK Eibachs and very similar drop numbers!

Bwoodys springs(Jeep SRT8)
Bwoody springs are manufactured by RoadMagnet springs USA. They are made for the Jeep SRT8...but fit the WK without any modifications. They are an extreme drop spring due to the high pressure gas shocks/struts the Jeep SRT8 uses. Although they do work on the WK non-SRT. I do not recommend them. That is only my opinion as a few have installed these on stock WK shocks and struts. These lower the stock SRT 2" and the stock WK about 2.5-3" I do not recommend them on a stock WK suspension because they compress the stock shocks and struts too close to the bumpstops. If you want the SRT Bwoodys I highly recommend the SRT Bilsteins or WK Bilsteins! Expect to pay $370 for the Bwoody springs. You can also have them powdercoated just about any color...but I find the powdercoating to be subpar at best.

EDIT-if you buy Bwoody springs...make sure you get the upgraded bumpstops and modify them as shown in the directions.

Roadmagnet version 1 and 2

Version 1 is the exact same springs as the Bwoody springs. Version 2 is not as an extreme drop as ver 1. in the rear. They give the SRT8 Jeep its stock rake back. The fronts are the same drop as the ver.1 and bwoodys...but the rear drop is less.

SWAYBARS

SRT8 Jeep Sway bars-front and rear

fronts-the SRT front swaybar fits the WK with no modifications. Do not order the front SRT sway bar with the triagular mounts. That will save you over $200. They are not needed on the WK non-SRT. This bar tremedously reduced front sway and is an excellent handling upgrade. Expect to pay close to $130 for the bar, bushings and bracket.
Front Sway Bar - Item # 52090154AG
2 Bushings - Item # 52090155AH

rear-Probably the best upgrade you can make for the handling on a nonSRT WK. These are also a direct fit on all WK's. No modifications needed. Expect to pay $100 and up for the rear SRT sway bar. The SRT endlinks are not necessary on the nonSRT WK.
Rear Sway Bar - Item # 52124303AA
2 Bushings - Item # 52124302AC
2 sway bar mounting brackets-52090271AB

Addco sway bars-The Addcos sways are the thickest swaybars made for the WK platform. Although the ADDCO sways are a direct fit to all WK's...even the SRT's.....some have found the fit to be subpar. The brackets and bushings seem cheap as well. So if you go with the Addcos...use the stock or SRT brackets and bushings. Awesome handling upgrade for any WK. Expect to pay over $130 each for the Addco's.

front torque specs
2. Install the lower link bolt (6) and tighten to 115 N·m (85 ft. lbs.)
3. Install the upper link bolt/nut (1&2) and tighten to 108 N·m (80 ft. lbs.).

rear torque specs

1. Install the upper bolt for the stabilizer link to the frame and tighten to 102 N·m (75 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the nut and tighten to 122N·m (90 ft. lbs.).
(thanks to robpp)

Bwoody swaylinks

manufactured for Bwoody Performance for the SRT8 Jeep. These only work for the SRT8 Jeep...unless you have the SRT suspension on your WK. Excellent upgrade over the very thin SRT sway links. Expect to pay upwards of $200 for these and they are available in most colors...although the powdercoating seems to be subpar.

Bwoody Non-SRT sway links New from Bwoody Performance and a Jeepgarage.org exclusive item is the Bwoody non-SRT sway links. These links were specially designed by Bwoody Performance for the nonSRT WK Jeeps. These sway links fit all WK Jeeps from the Laredo to the Overland and all engine sizes.

The Bwoody sways can also be used on lifted WK models and are also available by special order in different lengths for lifted WK models. PM mikeAbwoody to order at JG.org special prices.

Ksport coilovers
coilover suspension systems for the WK and SRT Jeep. Price is approx. $1400 for the first 10 buyers. These will include front coilovers and coilover rears. The adjustability will be +-3".
update-these coilover turned out to be an almost failure. They do sell the kits....but they do not have the adjustability desired by the WK/SRT suspension crowd.

coming soon-BC Coilover by Black Ops

Hello All,
Need some help, want to order a front srt stabilizer but when I use the part number on different sites to the bar is for a jeep commander did they start putting srt front bar on jeep commanders? Is this the right bar to use , my jeep is a 05 Wk. I need to change front shocks will the srt ones fit with my wk eibach lowering spring.

Wow. Read all ALL 70 pages in this thread (awesome/best thread ever). Now I have a problem. I see no $$ in my bank acct in the very near future. Why? Well thanks goes to Scott I have to buy all kinds of goodies for my 05 wk. So a big thanks to you and now my wife is PISSED!! (Well..... I have her convinced that my shocks and springs are shot and need replaced)

Ordering SRT front and rear sway bars, brackets and bushings.
SRT shocks/struts
Eibach wk springs

Also told the wife I need some new tires (which I do) but going with SRT reps and plan on some winter tires for the stockers.

Good plan?

Read all 70 pages of this and now I'm more confused than ever (and virtually broke and I haven't ordered anything yet, but spent it all in my head). LOL.

So, I know I'm going the following:
SRT Takeoff Swapbars

The things I'm not sure of:
WK Bilstein HD + SRT Takeoff Springs
WK Bilstein HD + WK Eibach
WK Bilstein HD + SRT Eibach Springs
WK Bilstein HD + SRT BWoody Springs

These will be going in an 05 WK LTD Hemi w/130k miles (tires are pretty much shot so that will affect readings below).

Front - 31 7/8"
Rear - 32 1/4"

I'd like to get about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" drop from the 31 7/8 measurement while leveling out the rear to be the same as the front.

What does everyone suggest?

#834 ·
I'm leaning towards WK Bilstein HD + SRT Eibach Springs.

I was initially worried about the bouncing condition in the rear that I read about, but there looks to be a fix for that (which I assume is us just cutting down our rear bump stops 1/2").

Is my statement above about the fix, correct?
Also, anyone with this combination that can comment on how it rides would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys,
I got 05 Wk with srt shocks and wk eibach springs with sway bar best way to go. I just added the srt shock this month makes the best way to stop the bouncing. Srt shocks cost a lot, if you go with HD Bilstein get the srt eibach springs a little lower because the hd shocks will raise the height a little. I would buy new parts springs the cost of install and putting on old parts is not worth it. Good Luck

OK....Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I have an 07 gc limited. I live in Pittsburgh, the roads are garbage. I want a slightly more aggressive stance as well as improved handling. I am thinking Bilstein on all four corners (hd), SRT sway bars(front and rear), and eibach srt springs. I don't want an extreme drop, just a cleaner more aggressive stance.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in south central PA myself and this winter really killed the local roads. Pot holes everywhere- so I know what you mean. I have SRT take-out springs with Monroe Reflex shocks/struts which I like. I stayed away from the HD Bilstein because I read they can be harsh/stiff and they raise the car 3/8" I think. I would stay with the SRT sways- good choice IMO. I went with ADDCO and have some fitment issues plus they are way more stiff than factory SRT which makes the ride harsher too.

#840 ·
Went with the Bilstein HD (4600) struts/shocks for the WK & the Eibach Pro-Kit Springs for the SRT8. Ride is firmer but definitely manageable, and the handling is great now.

Scottina06, I have a question as I seen you mention a brace somewhere about 30-40 pages back from 2012 (lol, yes, I read all of this thread).

Are you referring to the Strut Brace Bar on the WK? Also, I noticed the WK's has a flattened top where the SRT8 is round. Is there any other difference between the two, or even an advantage in putting an SRT8 one on the WK (will it even fit, or is the flattened area for clearance??)?

#841 ·
A lot of folks are still looking into the Bilstein HD as being a worthwhile upgrade. My 02 cents is as follows, and just trying to help fellow WK'ers make the best decision. Bilstein makes some great products, but the HD is just not one of them. I had them on for 15k and could not wait to get rid of them i.e. the handling is poor, (even with SRT bars) and the ride overly bouncy, constantly see-sawing and very harsh. Head toss is awful and the vehicle just never feels in control.. the roll center is raised 3/8 combined with poor rebound control. making it feel unstable plus they are so overly high pressured, the inside shocks are pushing upward through corners instead of staying planted. The vehicle never feels secure near the limits, particularly when you hit a bump mid corner. Replaced them with Koni FSD's and WOW what a difference, it now handles superbly, staying flat and very controlled through corners and not harsh over bumps. They are costly but there are not many choices out there for good shocks.

I'm trying to do as economical of transition as possible.

Think I'm going to go with:

New Bilstein 4600 struts/shocks ($250)
Used Front/rear SRT swaybar (bushing + bracket) ($250)
Stock springs

Two questions:
1) Would that work well?
2) There's conflicting information on the site about whether or not my 05WK will need the links for the sway bars. Can anyone confirm or deny that I don't need them?

Thanks

#843 ·
Define "Stock springs". You won't get any drops with Stock Springs (you may actually get a slight raise in height, as the 4600's are higher pressure shocks than stock).

As for the links, I do not have SRT swaybars yet, so cannot comment (however would also like this clarification for my future plans).

#847 ·
I got eibach wk springs with the stock shocks it lowered and the ride felt stock just better handle ing, I have wore out the stock shocks, got srt bilestein shocks to install soon. This on a 05

#860 ·
Can you post a pic of this? I have the WK bilsteins and stock SRT8 springs, but want more of drop.

#861 ·
When you order sway bar brackets and bushing do they come in a pair or each?

#864 ·
Ome will net you more than the advertised 2 but anything over 3 will start to cause problems with your angles. Thats why if your going more than 3 its pretty much superlift. Crawl offroad has a lift with max tire size if you wanted more ideas on what you wanted to do.

#865 ·
well i figured id share some numbers with those talkinga bout lowering with SRT springs...

current set-up is XK Hemi coils with bilstein HDs up front and JBA strut spacer installed. rear consist of SRT springs and bilstein HDs. running 32s with jk 18s:

front: 18.5" hub to fender, 33" ground to fender
rear: 19.25-19.5" hub to fender, 34" ground to fender

love this set up. i actually replaced XK rear coils with the SRTs and it dropped the ass end almost 2".

#866 ·
hey Scott,

thanks all info. Do you know if the WK bilsteins can be combined with my existing SRT springs (have 2009 diesel oveland, SRT springs and rims all around)? The local dealer says type Bilsteins B6 (neither HD nor 4600) at a price of about euro 400 for the fronts only (which are more expensive than the OEMs for which jeep has quoted around euro 320 - no labor included).

Front struts wear around 56%
Rear struts wear around 45%

The car is a bit 'floaty' especially the front part

what do you think ??
