Re: The Official Lifted WK Thread

First I washed the undercarriage to remove loose dirt/rust. Then I sanded everything with 150 grit. I could've spent forever on this part but I didn't, I just wanted to knock the worst or the rust down. After the sanding I washed it all again with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash, which is basically a detergent. Then I just spray bombed it with Dupli-Color semi-gloss black Engine Enamel.

It's not as bad as it sounds. It would've taken a day but I got rained out half way through and had to stop. I only did the front and rear. The parts toward the center weren't too bad. So in about a day (a day being daylight hours) I painted over all the rust, changed my oil, and installed a 4XGuard Front Guard.

Tip: get a good creeper! I just got a Bone-ster and it's awesome! I should've gotten one a long time ago but always just used cardboard to slide on. The creeper arrived just before this project and i'm glad it did. It actually made this project FUN haha

Eh it depends. For rust spots on chrome, steel wool owns. However, IME rusty steel just tends to snag the steel wool then you end up with steel "hairs" stuck in the rust.

My rear shock shafts had a few rust spots and steel wool cleaned them right up
