Re: The Official Lifted WK Thread

Thanks everyone. I don't intend on doing any sort of rock crawling in this vehicle. The off roading I intend to do is moderate at the most and not very often. So it sounds like my original decision will suit me nicely. This is the only vehicle I have as well so I have taken that into consideration with the number of off road modifications I intend to do.

Although its not the optimal option, I would buy the better lift now and then worry about replacing your rear shocks later. It beats buying a BB and then swapping that out later for new springs. I would have bought the OME the first time of it was available when I bought the RRO.
That's interesting. I was considering doing this by purchasing the OME coils, as I do not plan to do anything rough with her just yet, and then later buying better rear shocks. I just wasn't so sure how the shocks and struts would handle with the coils on road.

My WK is also a 09' & looking into whichever lift is most compatible with ESP, etc. Read a few reviews that ESP & other computer malfunctions happen all the time & are very costly after the fact. Just wanna know what lift u went with & if you've had problems since?, how it handles on-road vs. off-road?, etc... & if you had to do it all over again what would u do differently?

Appreciate your help!

Thanks
Itching to lift soon

To bypass the ESP on a lifted WK, you can either go to Quadratec and drop $300.00 on an EGR Module http://www.quadratec.com/products/16202_001.htm that will calibrate the ESP for a 4 inch lift and calibrate the speedometer for whatever size tire you use up to I believe 34 inches.

Or press the ESP button as in do not press then let go, but hold down the button until you hear a chime and "ESP OFF" is displayed on the EVIC screen. Absolutely, positively no interference from the ESP at all. Although if your WK is lifted then yoyu are most likely running larger tires so your speedometer is not calibrated. So now to figure what speed you are traveling at you could guess-timate, use a navigation unit, or what I did when my EGR module stopped functioning. I bought a Bully Dog-Triple Dog GT Tuner. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Performan...V8+345+CID+GAS

Not only does it calibrate the speedometer, it also boosts horsepower and torque while increasing fuel mileage depending on the setting. It does have a "DISABLE ESP" function, but my WK had a weird reaction. All the traction control warning lights lit up and the brakes engaged. A Bully Dog technical service rep told me that is a special function designed for the Dodge Ram(the same tuner works for the WK, XK, Ram w/HEMI)...so I just disable the ESP manually evrytime I crank the engine. The price is a hefty hunnerd bucks more than the EGR, but if your checkbook can swing it, worth the price.
