Think I'll be ok with this setup for a bit?

Hey all,

So I have a suspension related question that I need some opinions on. I have most of my set up that I want to get installed for my lift minus a few parts. Waiting to be installed I have the RK lift, Monroe LL's for the rear, and Rusty's 1/2" spacers for the front. The only thing I am missing that I really wanted to install with these parts are the Monroe struts for the front. Here's my dilemma. I am going on a camping trip at the end of July and will be towing a 4-place quad trailer. I really want the LL's installed to avoid as much sagging in the back as possible. But the problem I am running into is getting the struts purchased before the trip. I had some unforseen things come up that will prevent me from buying them before my trip. Do you think I will be ok to roll with the parts I have until after my trip? I really want to get these installed and I would much rather do it will the struts so I can do it all at once. Do you think it would be a big deal to wait on getting the struts installed? Eventually I will have them as well as a few other parts installed.

Re: Think I'll be ok with this setup for a bit?

I am going to be 100% honest with you and I don't mean it to be insulting or anything like that. If I were you, I would highly reconsider installing that RK lift. I have seen first hand what a piece of crap it is. Sell it and go get your self a RRO, RC, OME or anything other than that RK. Do a little research on here about it and talk to a member named JonJon. He will tell you that the RK was the biggest mistake he made.

That said if you really want to install it and are paying someone to install it for you, wait until you have all your parts to install it all at once or you will essentially be paying for 2 installs. If you are doing the work yourself, then install away.

Re: Think I'll be ok with this setup for a bit?

Lucas J, is it really that bad? I was asking on multiple forums about it before buying it and never heard anything bad about it. I posted a few different threads about it a few months ago when I bought it and never heard anything that I shouldn't get it.

JonJon, I don't plan on a ton of it since it's my dd but I do plan on eventually. Considering I live in Utah I want to take it down to Moab sometime. So there will be some, but I wouldn't say as of right now it would be any sort of intense wheeling.

And I also plan on the install myself. So paying a shop isn't an issue.

Re: Think I'll be ok with this setup for a bit?

If your installing it yourself, then you will be fine with that set up. I used the stock struts for a year or so when installed my RRO lift and I didn't have any problems and the RRO provides more lift then the RK.

JonJon is the one with the RK lift installed, so I will let him be the one to tell you why its crap.

That looks dope. Thanks for showing man. Nice lookin rig. I think I will be looking at selling the RK and going with the RRO. Do you like the RRO?

Re: Think I'll be ok with this setup for a bit?

IMO, I think the RRO is the best BB on the market. I have had it installed for longer than I can even remember and never had any issues. Some folks have had issues with the companies customer service but I am not one of them. I have had nothing but a good experience with them.

However I am about about to install the OME springs and give JonJon my RRO lift. I am upgrading because I want more lift and bigger rubber. The RRO has served me very, very well.

Re: Think I'll be ok with this setup for a bit?

See I would love to go with the OME lift since that's the height that I want but it's the money issue. So I wanted to with something a bit cheaper for now. Eventually I would love to upgrade it but we will see when that comes up. I think I will be ok with the RRO for now. It's a good lookin kit. And the reliability factor makes it even more appealing.

For a daily driver, the kit isn't bad. However, when you begin to push the kit it has some major limitations for the price. LucasJ has almost an inch in lift more than me. That height difference in itself is a major difference.

But like I said for a DD it's not a bad kit. Here are some pictures of my RK lifted WK.
