Tires... Size and brand recommendation

I need some help with tire recommendations with my winter setup. I am going to have to replace the current tires, and I have never really been happy with the size that came stock... they just look too small and not aggressive enough for the colorado snow.

My issue is that I am not sure what size tire I can run and not have any rubbing issues.

I would like to go with 265's all around but not sure about the sidewall size. I know on my summer setup, I run 265x40x22 with no issues at all.

What size could I wrap the stock 17's in?? I have the WK bilsteins with SRT springs and SRT sways. Overall I think it dropped my about an 1" or so. That might make a difference as well.

I think I want to go with the Hancook ATM's but any recommendations are appreciated. I dont want to spend an arm and a leg but want to get a solid tire.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Tires... Size and brand recommendation

On tire rack they show a 265/40R22 to have a section width of 10.7, tread width of 9.7, an overall diameter of 30.7 on a 9 1/2" rim width.

Find a 17" tire that is the same or smaller and fits on your rim width and you should be fine.

The OEM 17" tire is 245/65R17

Click my user name, the click statistics, then click threads started by user... Any of my threads that have pics of the exterior of my jeep show the 255/70/17 tires, imcluding my signature picture.
255- Width of the tire tread
70- Height of the sidewall
17- Rim size the tire will fit on.
I could prob go with a 265/75/17 with my 2 inch lift and some spacers but I didn't wanna go that large.

Re: Tires... Size and brand recommendation

Well woke up to snow this morning and I think its about time to bite the bullet and switch back to the winter setup and get some tires.

I have narrowed the search down to three different tires

245x65x17 Nitto Terra Grapplers

245x65x17 Goodyear Silent Armor

245x65x17 Hancook Dynapro ATM RF10

I am leaning towards the Nitto's at this point. I have read mixed reviews about the tread wear but I really am not concerned about that since I will only be running these here in CO during the winter time. I go back to the 22's in the summer.

Thoughts?!?

I have a couple of friends who run the Nitto's for New England winters and love them.

I really think they will be the tire I decide to go with. I found them online for 165 per tire. I am going to talk to Discount Tire today as they claim they will "not be undersold." They currently have them at almost 200 per tire

If they can beat that price, I will more than likely have them on next week.

Re: Tires... Size and brand recommendation

Well I decided agaist all three that I thought I was gonna go with. I had some Bridgestone Blizzaks installed today. 245x65x17. I hope they will work out and I have a good experience with them!
