TPMS off JK Rubicon Wheels work sometimes and sometimes dont

I recently installed a set of JK Rubicon Tires/Wheels and the TPMS on my WK works half a$$ at best now. Sometimes it reads properly and other times the light flashes. Is there any way to recalibrate this or does this seem to be a regular problem with no fix? My wk is a 05 Limited by the way if it matters.

If they are tpms sensors from the rubicon, then it because the two do not operate on the same frequencies. I already checked this out for myself on tirerack.

Sorry but this is wrong information... I have a set of 11' moabs w/ bfg's and wrangler tpms sensors. I have no lamp on ever.

Flashing indicates a fault. Possibly a dying sensor.

Re: TPMS off JK Rubicon Wheels work sometimes and sometimes dont

It is not wrong information, at least not for my year jeeps I am comparing. My 2008 WK uses a 433Mhz TPMS, and my brothers 2011 Wrangler Rubicon uses a 315Mhz TPMS. You can look on Tirerack.com. Im sure some sensors could be interchangeable. Perhaps I'm unlucky or you are lucky.

Im sure its dependent on the year Jeeps involved, but it is a definite possibility.

I'm not saying a faulty sensor is not to blame either, though. Just trying to offer up some advice I've experienced with my ride.

Re: TPMS off JK Rubicon Wheels work sometimes and sometimes dont

why not just swap the JK ones for your WK ones and be done with it?? Then sell the JK ones for $100 on a JK site.

Re: TPMS off JK Rubicon Wheels work sometimes and sometimes dont

Because I don't want to pay $100 to mount and dismount tires.

Re: TPMS off JK Rubicon Wheels work sometimes and sometimes dont

you dont need to, if you can pop the front bead off you can get it out then just pump the tire back up and viola... the only time a rebalance is required is when the tire and wheel orientation is changed.

All I can say from experience, not a tire shop on the interwebz, is that my 11' wheels, tires and tpms sensors function properly on my 2005 Grand Cherokee. Maybe at the body change there was a TPMS change (08'-10').

Btw I prefer the new tpms sensors because they have a rubber valve stem. (I believe, dont quote me, but the old solid style supersedes to the new rubber style).

Re: TPMS off JK Rubicon Wheels work sometimes and sometimes dont

Just searched the "interwebz" and the 2005 GC does actually use the 315Mhz TPMS. So they should work fine for you, not for us 2008 guys though.

I'm buying a set of 2007 Wrangler Sahara rims for my 2010 GC. I have the factory 6-spoke 17 inch aluminum rims.. Do you guys think I can transfer over my TPMS sensors to the wrangler rims?
