TPMS sensor and the spare

Hey folks, I know there has been some chatter in the past about setting up a second set of winter wheels with TPMS. I reviewed some past posts, but still have some questions or how successful people have been. Has everyone who bought new TPMS sensors, been successful with them automatically being learned by the car's module? And, do I need a TPMS sensor in the spare to get the light to go out? I do have a full spare.

Re: TPMS sensor and the spare

Well I just replaced a Sensor in one wheel as the stem cracked in half. got the sensor off the bay, My mechanic told me they automatically calibrate to the wcm but that is false. they need to be reprogrammed. Each sensor has an ID that needs to be programmed into the WCM. And yes the spare does need a sensor. There is a clone kit out there but its a little expensive. I got my sensor for 24 bucks shipped. Im gunna find a local tire shop and have them reprogram it for like 30 bucks.
