Re: What Tires Are You Reppin'

Im about to order tires for my 09 4.7. I looking at general grabber at2 and Dest a/t's. I had Dest at's on my 99 4.7 awesome tire. I wanted to try the grabber's on my 09 but they are back order and the tire shop had no idea when they would come. So it looks like ill be going with the Dest at's i just know if i want to go with stock 245/65/17 or 255/65/17. I cant wait because the stock GY fortera's are a horrible tire and i only have 20k on them.

Re: What Tires Are You Reppin'

I have always had good luck with Mickey Thompson MTZ's . They wear even and have great bite on rocks and in Mud. If you air down I stayed at about 10 PSI with no trouble after break in

I have friends that also swear by Cooper sst 's , These can be a little noisier then the MTZ's but works well

From what I have heard , The goodyears are soft and wear fast.

We also run BFG KO's on our commander and I am very pleased with how they are wearing .

I am getting the Nitto nt420's for my 05 GC but plan on swapping them out for winter with a more aggressive winter tread or all season

Re: What Tires Are You Reppin'

I have 265/70/17 Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my lifted 08 4.7L and I love them.. they have an aggressive tread... like the BFG ATs and the Firestone Destinations.. but not as crazy as a MT... they perform well on and offroad.. I've driven them through the woods, down dirt and gravel roads and in pouring rainstorms.. they handled great..

and best of all, I drive 75miles a day highway for work.. no sound at all on the highway. just the same as the stock fortera hls sounded(practically silent) but way more aggressive looking and better offroad. I recommend checking them out.

I've also heard real good things about Goodyear Duratracs.. and the Nitto Trail Grappler MTs.. those will give an even more aggressive look than the AT tires, you can see in the sidewalls... but will make a little more noise on the highway, gripping and humming.

Goodluck on your choice and check back in with pics when you get them mounted!

Re: What Tires Are You Reppin'

I had Destination AT 245/65/17 and replaced them several weeks ago with the same size Cooper AT3. THe Destinations had a better steering feel and cornering, but the ride was a lot rougher, and bouncy compared to the Coopers. The AT3's are easily a better tire than the Destinations for the WK. They ride much smoother on the Highway and over bumps, are better off road and are quiet at speed. It would appear from the tread they are better in snow.

Re: What Tires Are You Reppin'

FWIW you can buy Coopers from DiscountTiredirect.com , shipped for $ 602 total, since there is no tax with online purchases. Discount TIre stores then do the installations

Re: What Tires Are You Reppin'

I have 265/70/17's Nankang Mud Stars & they have both low speed & normal speed hum. As far as wear, I've only had them for a month or 2 & they seem to be wearing just fine. When I first bought my Jeep, they came with 265/70/17 Pro Comp Xtreme Mud Terrains & they were a lil' loud & when in muddy conditions, they didn't clean so well. But, I must say, it's a pretty decent tire! Good luck with your decision!!
