What will $1000 get me?

I just ordered my OME Med lift kit for my presently stock 05 WK except for intake and exhaust. I haven't ordered wheels and tires yet but I'm trying to limit myself to $1000 for the combo. Ideally I'd like 265 70 17s orrr maybe even a little bigger, I'd really like to do it without any spacers but don't mind the pinch weld. Any specific wheels, tires, or combos you guys would recommend?

Re: What will $1000 get me?

JK Moabs and 265/70/17's... hands down the best OEM looking setup for a lifted WK.

You can definitely find a set of used Moabs on your local Craigslist for around $200-300 (typically with stock 255/75/17's) with decent tread left, even sometimes with the BFG Mud Terrains. I found my set (5 wheels/tires) for only $250. I sold the 5th rim for $75 and the 5 tires for $70 (local used tire shop). This left me with 4 MINT condition Moabs. New tires ran me $700 installed. But like i said search your local craigslist... there are a ton of JK guys looking to unload their stock wheel/tire combos for cheap, just be patient and dont be scared to make offers to keep the price in your comfort zone. Sorry to say, but you WILL need spacers up front for caliper clearance.

Good Luck!

I went with 245/75's on stock rims. No further mods needed.

Why the JK Moabs? Just the look? Aren't they the same width and offset as our wheels?

of course for the look... why else would someone want to get new rims?

I'm not to sure about the specific offset numbers compared to stock, but i do know that they are not a direct bolt on up front. You will need a 1/4" spacer to clear the calipers. The rears fit with no spacers.

*note* if your an '05 - '07 you wont need spacers up front, only '08 - '10 require a spacer to fit the JK Moab.
