I would say 255/70/17 which is about 31.1 i believe, with that size you should not have any rubbing at full lock and you will be far from the upper ball joint bolt.
I really like the reviews on the Bridgestone Revo's, something to consider as well.. it's pretty nice on ice and mud.
Yes, that size is stock JK wrangler size and they will fit on fine, Might have to trim that "bolt" on the upper control arms but that wont hurt anything.
Not a problem, i just like to share the wealth. Some times its good to deviate from the masses and try something different. I am hoping to get the WR SUV tire for my year round tires in a 255/65/17 or a 275/60/16, i just need to find out if the 275 will fit. its only .5" taller but its almost 1" wider then stock. The 255 is a tiny bit bigger in all directions but its a 99% guaranteed fit.
Use the tire size calculator that stickied in the Grand cherokee section. You can put in your size vs the new size and it will give you the % difference. Its very minimal with the two sizes i listed. about 1.5% difference.
The only time you would need to cut that bolt would be stuffing a 265, the height is perfectly fine.
I know a few guys running a 265/70/17 with minor rubbing at full lock, they did need to trim a 1/4'' of that bolt but that is about it.
Acid. If i run the 275/60/17 i want to get do you think that it will give me any issues.
The tire company lists the 275 being exactly 30" tall and 11" wide vs the stock size 245 that is 29.5" tall and 9.8" wide. the 255/65/17 i want is 30.1 tall and 10.8 wide. All these dimensions are for the same tire.
So i dont think i will have to cut the bolt, i am just concerned about getting tires of a new size put on and being stuck at the tire shop w/o it being drivable.
With a 275 you will definitely require wheel spacers or bolt trimming, the limit is 255 without touching the bolt, with a 265, you are centimeters away.
Thanks, If thats the case i will stick to the 255/65/17. I hope it wont look out of place on a street jeep, I am putting street tires on it not an aggressive tire. I just figure if i cant afford new wheels or the factory JGC Limited/overland chrome 18s i figured a slightly wider tire would give it a good look.
Thanks. I am still looking at a few different tires, all very comparable. Hopefully i can make up my mind before winter on which tires i want from my list.
Do you have any side pics? I just want to see them on a Stock wk and you and i have the same wheels so it will be a good representation of what my jeep will look like.
FYI, 245/70/17 and 265/65/17 are .2% difference in tire size via miata tire size calculator and the price jumps up over $40 for the 265s. Not worth it.
I know this is a super old thread but on Thursday we are going to be putting 255/75/17 Wrangler SR (wrangler take offs) on my GF's 07. We did a test fit and it looks like with the bolt trim and a 1/4" spacer they will fit!
