Winter Tires

As I just purchased new BFG Rugged terrains for my '10 WK limited, I'll be going to college next year and where I'm going, it snows 200 inches a year, therefore I'm seriously looking into getting some snow specific tires for when I go to school and for the winter, so I'm not wearing out these new rugged terrains. Any suggestions as to what to go with? And it is worth noting that I will be doing a fair amount of off-roading in my jeep as week as driving in the snow, so maybe I should stick with what I have? Or should I go with an aggressive off-road winter specific snow tire? I'm unsure of what to do. Any suggestions? And I'm running stock 245/65/17's if that helps.

If you are heading to where you get serious snow, particularly with ice under it, the best tire you can get is the Nokian Hakka factory studded.

They are a tad on the noisy side.
Pirelli, General, and Hankook have traditional studded tires that look like a direct ripoff of the Nokian tread pattern, the Hankook iPike is pretty good, but only a tad less noisy than the Hakka 7.

The Cooper Discoverer M+S is also studdable and notably quieter than the Nokian or Hankook.

If you don't need studs, I'd still suggest getting a decent severe winter tire with the snowflake symbol on it, as an of them will have better stopping and turning traction than a non-winter off road or an all season. The ones with the silica in the tread pattern are pretty good.
