Like a lot of viewers on this forum, I'm trying to decide what size tire for my JK Moab rims on my 06 WK.
I spent a lot of time to figure out that 265/70R17 and 255/75R17 will fit the WK with Moabs lifted or not
with potentially rubbing on the inner frame of the front tire at full lock. FYI - Moabs wheels give net gain 1/4" space to UCA bolt due to 1/4" less offset compared to factory WK rims. If no inner fender rubbing with 1/4" spacer, then I may grind the brake caliper and see if I still get rub with no spacer. I am going with Duratracs so I will probably need that extra 1/4" for the aggressive side walls. I don't expect that I will need pinch weld mod but expect to trim the UCA bolt because "why not".
If not lifted, will 265/70R17 rub when stuffing the tire off road?
If OME lifted, will 265/70R17 rub when stuffing the tire off road?

I have been investigating what is the max spare
tire size for a WK also. 3% or less diameter difference needed for QDII happiness. Hitch mod assumed.
I have seen more than once that a 265/70R17 will fit the spare location.
Does anyone know if that is a new tire and fully aired?
I was thinking a 50-75% used 265/70R17 fully aired would fit for sure.
I have seen on the forum that 255/75R17 will NOT fit the spare location. So I came up with ideas if I want to run that size.
Use a 50-75% USED 255/75R17 tire for the spare?
255/75R17 ~32.06" new (16/32)
255/75R17 ~31.6" @ 50% tread (8/32) - same as new 265/70R17
255/75R17 ~31.3" @ 25% tread (4/32)
To compensate for a smaller spare, you could measure the mounted spare wheel center to ground and then air down the opposite side tire so the height is similar. Comments?
