Re: 07 Grand Cherokee Custom 'Stealthbox' project

Congrats! I wouldn't have expected a 12" sub to perform well in such a small enclosure. A 10" maybe but certainly not a 12". If it sounds good then that's all that matters. Are you going to put anything over the sub to protect it from getting punctured?

Re: 07 Grand Cherokee Custom 'Stealthbox' project

yeah I was sort of surprised too at the sound quality... I intended it only to add a little depth to my system, not set off alarms, so I wasn't too concerned about perfect volume. However, it can be turned up pretty loud with no noticeable distortion or clipping and good sound; enough to shake my mirrors if i wanted it to!

Yep, I plan on getting a plain waffle grille here soon. They aren't the prettiest but they are cheap and functional, and will give it even more of a factory look that will make it less noticeable or appealing to thieves.

Re: 07 Grand Cherokee Custom 'Stealthbox' project

So i got the grill i ordered off ebay the other day and tested out. Moral of that part of the story, don't buy speaker grills without first doing a fit test. It was a waste of $15 because it didn't fit no matter how I tried. I tried pulling the plastic rim off the edge of the speaker, still a mm too small, tried bending it, and even making little cuts in it with a tin snips to see if i could get it to fan out and stretch. No luck. It was an awesome one too. Really plain, just a pinhole mesh, and very sturdy made out of steel. Not sure what to do now.... try another one or what?

This one looks pretty cool and appears to match the same screw holes used to mount the woofer to the box.
