Adding a sub

Hello I'm looking to add a sub to my jeep it's a 2005 but the first thing I did was put the stock radio with the aux port on it in. It is a BA stock system so I have the factory amp.. I would like to know if I can add a seperate amp and sub and not have to put a different head unit in. If possible what do I need to do this? P.s is a 15" JL sub too big? My friend has one and I can get a great deal on it!!

For others that stumble across this thread during searches: hopefully you found one of the many threads on here detailing LOCs (Line Output Converters), tapping the rear speaker door OUTPUTS from the factory BA amp, and adding a sub/amp to your WK by using the line level output from the LOC as the inputs to your new sub amp.

This is the LOC I'm using and it's been solid since I installed it like 2 yrs ago:
Amazon.com: PAC SOEM-T 2-Channel Premium Line-Out Converter with Remote Turn-On Trigger: Automotive

I tapped it into the rear cigarette lighter for constant power (low draw, but I should probably move to a switched power source for less battery wear).

Tapped the full sound spectrum rear speaker OUTPUTS from the BA Amp for the signal to convert to Line level for the amp inputs.

Reply to the thread or PM me if you need anything else bud.

Alright so it's all hooked up but my volume on my head unit has no control over the volume with the sub meaning when I turn it on volume:1 it starts up sub and I can't even hear the speakers at that level. I have to have it at around 5 or 6 to even begin hearing the speakers. The more I turn the volume up the sub stays the same level and it is hitting hard.. I am stumped I played with all the controls on the amp and can't seem to figure it out..

That's odd; the LOC should be sending variable sound levels of line signal to the amp. What settings have you set on the amp itself? I've never had that problem with my setup from the get-go.

I got it figured out I had to go but a second set of RCA cables and hook up the bass knob and now it works just thought it seemed odd that the stereo didn't control it but no big deal.. I would spend the money on a aftermarket double din but I don't really want to do that I may sell the jeep before it hits 100,000 miles.. After winter of course
