Re: Adding sub to ba system

I have noticed I am getting a high pitched rattle( around the frequency of a cricket'a chirp) from the front drivers side door speaker. If I put my hand on the speaker grille it goes away. What is causing this? Will I need to replace the speaker?

On a completely unrelated note, hijacking my own thread, lol, did you ever get any correspondence from Chrysler about the broken door handles? Saw your video on YouTube.

Yes, after haggling with corporate for a few weeks, I got them to comp like 75% of the doors. I had all four panels replaced, and i think it ended up running me $684 or something. Also found out my dealer sucks at removing door panel pins, as when I went to go do my BA Speaker upgrade, half my pins were broken. Thankfully I had eBayed a pack of 50 of my ZJ (same pins) years before and didn't have to pay $2/each at the stealer. They also broke the retaining pins for my passenger front control panel, so it pops out of the door sometimes (annoying).

My dad had the same 05 WK as me with different options, and we ended up getting the replacement kits made by a seller on eBay. They were $26/door and color matched. Repair was straight forward and the only step we changed was that we ABS epoxy'd the new piece in for a cleaner finish. They held up for about 1.5yrs and were in perfect condition when he just traded up for a '14 WK2.

Yeah I was thinking I might just buy the handles, because the door panels are like 800 dollars each, which is ridiculous. Did your dad's match the color exactly or were they lighter? I took off the door panels of my zj many years ago but I dont remember the pins you speak of, maybe I just reused them. Thanks.

You can re-use the pins if they're not broken, but they break easily, and the older they get, the more brittle they become.

You can usually save the majority of them if you have a good set of trim pry bars. Without those, you're likely to break quite a few.

Here's what they look like: http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-Grand-Che...479908&vxp=mtr

As for the color match, the ebay guys did a pretty good job. I couldn't tell a color difference between them and OE.

Re: Adding sub to ba system

How does this sub look? I like the low profile and the fact its preloaded. Thinking I will pair it with a boss amp?

Re: Adding sub to ba system

Just my $0.02, but I wouldn't skimp when it comes to a sub. Just find yourself a flat sealed box like the one you already linked to and put in a decent sub. I'm partial to Alpine, and my last 2 subs have been Alpine, where I upgraded from a 10" w/ ported box to a 12" w/ sealed box. That amp isn't bad, especially since it has the bonus of high level inputs, eliminating the need for a LOC in our Jeeps; however, if you decide to upgrade on the sub speaker itself, make sure you do the same with the amp, otherwise you'll have a severely underpowered sub.

I think my Alpine Type-R takes like up to 650w+ RMS but my R1000-D only pushes 500w RMS at 4ohms bridged in the setup I chose. That way I can never blow up my sub

Re: Adding sub to ba system

Just save your pennies, buy a Helix P-DSP, then you can keep your radio and the Boston Amp. Thats what I did. I have a loaded up RER and I used the Boston to feed the Helix. From there, it was upgrade city
