Yes, for the front two channels I used a 3 way crossover (woofer, midrange, high) mounted inside the two front doors. The crossover;s frequencies were in the same hz range as all the speakers so it produces very good sound. The back speakers are a set of components as well, but with the standard crossover that was included.

The system overall sounds more balanced and slightly crisper.

Looks very stock. Do you hear the tweeters well when they are down that low?

Crispier isn't "ghetto" loud. I was referring to a lot better sound quality.

And I do not have subs. I too think sub sound systems are a bit immature.

Re: Custom Stereo Install- Amp Bypassi PICTURES

I agree with 2for3.

I went with all 6 new speakers for better sound quality(but I can still get ghetto loud lol)
My biggest issue was the lack of mid-high range from the rear speakers as my sub would over power it (even when I wasbt pushing the sub hard at all)

But I disagree with subs being immature... Of course putting abother JL W6 v2 back in my. Jeep would be immature, as I'd never use it to its full capability, but my Toby 10 does the job perfectly for just enough added low end but can still slam if needed. Also only runs on 60watts per channel at 4ohms LOL and is no wimp. Also makes for a good show at the drive in

Re: Custom Stereo Install- Amp Bypassi PICTURES

Sorry. Not really immature. Just not professional.

I guess it's just personal taste.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I just hope you guy don't bump it when pulling up to a job interview.

Re: Custom Stereo Install- Amp Bypassi PICTURES

Unfortunately there aren't many factory replacement speakers that can handle the duties of filing in ether low end with any volume and not sound distorted. I know there is a guy running a full wall our a cargo area full of 12' s on here somewhere, but that takes it way too far if you want a functional SUV. however, if you are shooting for balanced sound with clarity and any sort of volume, I don't know how you could do it without a low end devoted driver.

Thoughts?

yup you are never really going to get that type of lows without a sub and dedicated amp. It will never sound as good.

Yea i hear ya on the rear speakers... my stealth box was over powering the rear channel until i added the those tweeters. Im still suprised how much bass i get out of it, being a single 10".

I don't think i could ever have a car without a sub in it.

I was refereing to my own high school days and not anything else. I guess it comes across wrong when you read it. Anyways... Im sure you remember back in early 97' & 98' how Infinity Kappas, JL subs, Alpine MRV1501 amps were the shit... haha. To me my system then was GHETTO loud, but then again so was everyone else's in my grade at the time. My ears are sure paying for it now though

Now im a bit more conservative with my car stereos, hense the stock BA system, rear tweets and single 10" JL sub.

Sometimes i will even turn off my subs. Just the output level on the head unit. Especially on very long drives if I just want something soft. They are more for showing off lol, and summertime.
