Re: Gauges or DS Intune?

Scan gauges weren't what I was expecting. Instant MPG is awesome though.

Just an idea.

Dave
Those are cool, I'm assuming 2 for 2 batteries? Or one battery and one alternator?

Anyways, the ScanGauge has A HUGE amount of features like transmission temp, instant MPG (which I miss from my last Jeep) and a whole bunch of other good things. I figure I would've spent the $160+ on the 2 gauge setup and this is cooler and more functional. Plus, all of my interior lighting is the OEM green, so I'm going to be picking one of the 61 shades the LCD backlight turns on the scangauge (green) to match the OEM interior.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Re: Gauges or DS Intune?

Yep, Multiple batteries. I actually run a Bullydog monitor which does the main battery (and boost, fuel and coolant), these do the 2nd under bonnet optima and then the rear batteries are paralleled.

It was $180 on special.

Nice buy bro. BTW your screenshot with 420km to go must be AWESOME. I'm lucky to get like 200mi to a full tank these days...

Re: Gauges or DS Intune?

That's actually really bad for me

Highway she gets minimum 600k to the tank Gotta love Diesels!

And a 3" exhaust and GDE Flash tune.........

You wont go wrong with a scangauge though, ran one on 3 XJ's i had previously.

Yeah only thing I noticed that won't work will be instant MPG, as apparently the MDS really screws with that and reports bad values.

Re: Gauges or DS Intune?

Or potentially use something like the $5 Torque app on an Android phone. That and a $20 ODB2-Bluetooth ELM327 module off ebay. That'll let you see a whole range of sensor figures, one of which is voltage.

Yeah I had initially considered that, but axed it due to the fact that I really like uConnect. Unfortunately BT 2.0 doesn't allow simultaneous connections but if I wanted to pair the phone to the OBDII each time, it could work, I guess I'd also have to open the app. I wanted a permanent application that would give me on demand figures at any time. The fact that I can basically Velcro it in front of my gauges for ease of visibility and no further loss of range of vision (on the WK's already large blind spots from HUGE pillars) was a winner for me.

Now all I need to do is find some cash for a catch can and some V-LEDs...

BOOM, thanks to your input and some online research, just bit the bullet and picket up a scangauge II for $160 shipped on Amazon! Cheaper and MORE FEATURES! Not to mention plug n' play!
No problem Post some pics up after you get it installed. Also, some feedback on what you like and/or dislike after using it for a while would be cool too

Re: Gauges or DS Intune?

Yeah, should be in tomorrow, and will be installed/configured this weekend. I'll probably start a thread about it.

Re: Gauges or DS Intune?

Following up on my Scangauge II, I'm finally reporting back. I like the system, but honestly mounting it is kind of difficult in the WK. Right now it's sitting in my console pocket to the left of the steering wheel while I attempt to come up with a more permanent solution. Velcro just doesn't stick anywhere on this Jeep...and of course, that's what it comes with for mounting. I want to put it up by the left/front of the windshield, but haven't had time to rig something up.

Now to the useful part: I love the voltage readout. I also have it reading transmission temp, firing sequence, and HP. I would love to get the instant MPG readout, but apparently MDS screws with that value, so it's not useful. The user configurable colors (something like 64 to choose from) are great and I have it closely matched to the interior green LED color that's stock on the WKs.
