Head Unit Question

Hey guys, I currently have the REC head unit. I recently replaced all of my speakers to Infinity Reference series.
I'm thinking of swapping out head units now. I'm very happy with the speakers, and think an aftermarket unit will improve them a little more. I don't really care for navigation, or dvd, so going to go with a single din head unit. Probably Pioneer or Alpine.
Is an aftermarket head unit going to give me the ability to adjust the dash speakers seperate from the door speakers? I think they are all kind of tied together as the front now with adjusting fade.

Doubtful. Usually dash speakers are tweeters and the door speakers are mid bass woofers with a crossover in between them sending only high frequencies to the tweeters. A custom install shop can do pretty much anything your wallet can handle though.

Re: Head Unit Question

On the REC system the 6x9's are full range. But I think they are all tied in together. I'll just put in my own cross over to the dash speakers then if I need to. Right now with the stock unit they are fine.

I'm sure they are tied together and there is probably a crossover in the door.

Re: Head Unit Question

I don't think there are any crossovers in the door for the stock base REC system. I don't have the BA system, no amp. So I don't think any crossovers either. Sure didn't see anything else in there when I swapped out speakers either.

Re: Head Unit Question

The stock ones have a capacitor on them that blocks the lower range is all I think.
