Thinking about getting this to replace my old kenwood ddx from 2002ish. Price seems good. Is there an option to add navigation?

The addon for nav tacks another $300+ to the unit price... ouch. Might as well get one built in.

Navigation isn't worth $300 in parts, especially when it's already on my phone. That's why i'm thinking about saving the money and just getting this type of head unit instead.

Re: installed pioneer avh-p8400bh

I just got the AVH-P4400BH installed, which I believe is one step below yours and only doesn't have the app mode. Came with a free backup camera and installation of the camera was free, since the installer did it for my old parts. So far so good.

The nice thing about the 8400 is if you have an iphone 4s you can use the app mode and use turn by turn nav from your phone on the screen of the 8400. No need to pay the extra for a stand alone nav piece. I am a Pioneer dealer and have the 8400 in my 05. It is the best deck I have had.

I wonder if there's a way to hack into mine to enable the 8400 apps. I can almost guarantee it's the same hardware with locked software...

Did you hook up a dimmer wire so the screen dims when the headlights turn on?
