Hey Guys, first real post here..just picked up my 2006 WK this weekend and first order of business is to upgrade the stock REQ deck. I'm wondering what I would be best off doing - either trying to pick up a myGig w/ nav to add used for maybe around 500 bucks or wait for one of the new alpine / pioneer headunits with navigation and the whole nine yards, which would be closer to a $1000.

I'm not sure what myGig I would need either, my sis has the new 2012 WK2 (I'm jealous, and her myGig rocks. How much would that cost? what are the software upgrades on it like? Could I get an older myGig and upgrade it to the latest?)

My set up will be as follows:
Front: Polk Audio sr6500s
Rear: TBD - looking at a friends Focal Vslims...stock right now
Sub: JL 13w6v2 (1)
Amps: JL 500/1 and 300/4 Slash v1's

Let me know your thoughts...thanks guys!

What is considered the latest MyGig model that I could install? What type of difference would I see from a sound quality perspective from the mygig vs a highend aftermarket unit? You can see my components are pretty competent. I wouldn't want to shortchange them by putting in a less adequate head unit.

So I should wait seems to be the general consensus? With all the add on's - lockpick, bezel + installation, it's really not looking like the mygig would be much cheaper. The new alpine that comes out in June is supposed to be around 1300 but looks sick already. The new pioneers too..

A good head unit is a must and every automobile. Seriously.

sonicelectronix.com is a good cheap place to look. I order several items from there.
