Nav doesn't know where it is!

I have a weird problem with my nav. While driving down the road it will show you where you were 10min ago, but not where you are now!!

Last night I drove to a friends house 7 miles from home, and the map showed I was still about a 1/4mi. from home! I was at his house for about 3 hours, then when I got in it to leave, it was showing correctly (or close) that I was at his house, so I thought maybe it was just a glitch and now it is fine. Nope! When I drove back home, the map showed I was about a mile from my friends house (6 miles from where I really was. Next morning when I got in it, it was still showing I was 6 miles from where I really was.

I thought maybe the GPS antenna was not connected good, so I took the radio out and it seemed to be fine, nothing obviously wrong anyway....
they all "looked" and "felt" fine. Moving and wiggling them did not make it work. (I think I was looking at the right wire... not exactly sure which one is the GPS antenna wire)

SO, any ideas?? Is it possible it is a hard drive failure?? If it is a antenna/wire failure, how do I check? Any help would be MUCH appreciated!! THANKS!!

THANKS for the replies!! I wasn't sure what you meant, but I think I figured it out. I went to the nav menu and selected GPS position, and that brought up a split screen... left was the map, on the right was the address of where I am (incorrectly) and at the bottom of that it said GPS satellites. It was switching between 6 and 7 and the bar graph was not quite up to half way. The car has been sitting in the drive for about 3 hours and it still says my location is across town from where I really am.

,

ok you have gps, this are good, now we make a gps recalibration.

you must go in the enigeereing mode for this, important please dont touch the Screen calibration!

for enter in this menu you must plug seek+ seek- and menu all together, , then you see a message from hb klick ok, now you are in the menu.
on the left site you can Change the page you must go to nav debug menu and klick on the button, now you see empty, go on the left side 3x up and the you see the gps calibration, push and wait.

after finish go out and drive with the car some 500m

Feedback.

Hi,

I have the same problem with my 2005 WK with the REC nav/radio.

The screen only intermittently updates with the jeep is moving. Sometimes it just remains 'stuck', as if the jeep was not moving.

I pressed the vehicle settings menu and the GPS shows the correct location of my jeep in my driveway.

Is there a 'hidden menu' to try?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks! I'll check out the radio fuses this weekend.

Although all the radio and CD functions work fine.

I did drive about 30 miles in it yesterday. Curiously, the gps information screen always showed updating longitude, latitude, and elevation as I drove. However, more than half the time the 'current location' was blank, instead of displaying street, town and state.
