Hey Guys,

I have finally decided to go with this double din stereo but I need to figure out everything else I will need.

I already bought a double din bezel.

I plan to get one of these (let me know which, if any, is better)

or

and I think all I will need is a wire harness, if someone can link me to that and anything else I might not have thought of, I would appreciate it!

oh and one last question...I plan to use an android phone with this unit, i know it's got an iphone/ipod wire but is there anything special I need or could use for android? I probably will on need to connect it to use google maps and maybe once in a while for music or other media.

thanks!

I'm about 90% through my audio upgrade of the same vehicle. I bought the Metra trim kit but it wont be here til next week. I started with the stock low end radio and this is what I needed. The bezel which you already have and the following two parts:

Metra XSVI-6502-NAV Chrysler Interface

Antenna Adapter

I highly recommend the wiring harness as it will save you a BIG headache. These are links to the Canadian site but the numbers are the same for the US site, albeit cheaper prices. I installed an Alpine NAV system, so the harness may be different so I would call the people at Crutchfield and they will walk you through it. They may however tell you that a DDin HU will not fit, but they are wrong, it will fit. You just need to bend the white metal supports up a bit. If you have the stock stereo I would also highly recommend ditching the dash speakers for these:

50% improvement with sound quality right off the bat

I have the same head unit in my RX-8. I wasn't able to get it to work with my android phone, it will only charge it. I only have the USB cable for my Ipod and it works great with music. If I put the head unit in App mode I can play music through my Ipod and control everything through the Ipod instead of the head unit, but I just get a blank screen or the warning screen about watching videos while driving. I don't know if this would change with a special wire or not.

It's a great head unit though, I'm very happy with it

thanks man. im on a tight budget which is why i was hoping to go with pioneer, i guess i could always get the avh-p4300 and save up and get the nav plug in. that kenwood is nice too and the price isn't terrible. thanks for all the input!
