Here's the deal. I was entering the address for my upcoming vacation and the joystick quit working. WTF. Now it hardly works at all. What can I do.

Re: REC nav joystick prob.

replace the joystick. dealers have a kit to repair it and if you are good with a soldering iron you can do it yourself.

+1 for the replacement. They used to sell replacements on fleabay. Not sure if they still do.

Re: REC nav joystick prob.

When I replaced mine, I ordered the part from Mouser electronics - the part number was:

RKJXT1E12001

Takes about 5 minutes to get the radio out, another 10 to get it stripped down to access the joystick. I am by no means a pro at soldering, but was able to remove the old joystick and replace and re-solder all in about 30 min. Then, another 15 to get everything put back together and back in the rig.

So, for an hour's work and about $15 in parts I was back in business. Plus, the replacement joystick seems to be a little more sturdy as well as I have had 0 problems since the replacement ~4 years ago.

You may have a little bit of a harder time finding a replacement joystick now, as these units are becoming obsolete, but I am sure an equivalent is still available.

If you need more details, I am sure I can drag out the instructions that I followed when doing this job.
