We all have to live with it.
A huge majority of radio stations use both dynamic range and extensive multiband compression and just about everything you hear over the air has been compressed since the 60's whether its AM or FM. Compression is inherent with Sirius & XM broadcast and of course multiple codecs and compression algorithms are used in streaming digital music. Compression allows more use of bandwidth on a particular frequency and with narrow-banding the freq into segments you get more use out of it. (popular with LMR, cellular, 802.11x, microwave and satellite spectrums)
The sad thing is that most FM radio stations over do it just to be the "loudest" broadcast over the air hugely sacrificing the high and low quality of our music.
I like Jeeps and stuff.
